(Maiya! Haun gai charavan jaihaun)

(Surdas)

In this verse of Surdas, Krishn is convincing her mother to let him go to graze the cows. He explains his mother about the exciting things he is going to do...

Maiya! Haun gai charavan jaihaun.

Mother! I'll go to graze the cows.

Tu kahi mahar Nand baba saun, bado bhayo na dareihon.

Tell Nand Baba (father) that now I am grown up and I don't fear anymore.

Raita, Paita, Mana, Mansukha, Haldhar sangahi reihaun.

I shall stay with friends: Raita, Paita, Mana, Mansukha, and big brother, Haldhar (Baldev).

Bansibat tar gwalani kei sang, khelata ati sukh paihaun.

Under the Bansiwat, I will be extremely happy to play with my cowherd friends.

Odan bhojan dei dadhi kanwari, bhukh lage tein khehaun.

Pack curd-rice for me. I'll eat if I feel hungry.

Surdas hei sakhi jamun-jal saun dehu ju naheihaun.

Surdas says (to Lord, Krishn) that water Yamuna is my witness. Take an oath if I'll take bath there.
